Ames Product Approval: 4000SS Special Notice
As you may be aware, for many years the Ames 4000SS was the only RPZ backflow assembly approved for use by ASSE in the vertical position. ASSE has not allowed the approval for or use of other or new RPZ product for quite some time.
We were just notified that that effective August 26, 2010, ASSE will no longer allow the use of any vertical RPZ type backflow assemblies, including the Ames 4000SS. The 4000SS backflow assemblies that were installed on or before August 26, 2010 are acceptable with no ramifications.
This approvals change does not affect any of the Ames double check (DC or DCDA) backflow assemblies. Those products are still approved in the vertical position as per their current listing and approvals.
